WELLE Full Certification 2 Day Training for new staff at SSEC.

This professional development enables staff to manage behaviors pro actively, rather than intervening when it escalates. Using Welle consistently across SSEC will foster a culture of empathy that helps staff build partner relations with students, fellow staff and management. These relationship can lead to a decrease in both frequency and intensity of incidents.

Course Goals

  • SSEC employees will participate in Welle and demonstrate knowledge in implementing restraint prevention/de-escalation techniques and behavior support policies and procedures consistent with 603 CMR 46.00 regarding appropriate responses to student behavior that may require immediate intervention.
  • SSEC employees will acquire in depth training on identifying behaviors off baseline, using verbal de-escalation techniques, backed by non-abusive physical protection and restraint.
