This training will help enforce to minimize and eliminate the use of restrictive practices, and to use a trauma-informed apporach to those we serve are treated. All intervention is built on an approach of Comfort vs. Control. During the course of the training attendees will learn about brain development, trauma and the brain, comfort vs. control, communication, conflict resolution and protective physical skills.

Course Goals

    Understand that there are safer methods to manage dangerous situations without the use of restraint and seclusion.

  •  

    To add more skills to your toolbox to keep everyone safe, and to create a better understanding of behavior.

  •  

    Staff will understand the implementation of the blocking pads and trainers will ensure that they know what they are there for, how they will be used, and how they keep everyone safe by the end of the training.

  •  

    Trainees will understand trauma and its effect on the brain and behavior, protect themselves and others when someone becomes aggressive, protect those who engage in dangerous or self-injurious behavior and minimize the use of restraint and seclusion.
